A syllabus tells you what a course lists as required. It doesn’t tell you what you’ll actually use. Those two things can be very different, and the gap is where a lot of textbook money quietly disappears.

The people who know the difference are students who already took the course and the professor teaching it. Asking them costs nothing, and it can save you from buying a $150 book that never leaves your bag.
